The Dhaka South City Corporation on Wednesday announced a budget of Tk 3,841.38 crore for the financial year 2025–26. 

The proposed budget sets a total revenue income target of Tk 1,320.43 crore, with an estimated operational expenditure of Tk 635.33 crore.


The Dhaka South city administrator Md Shahjahan Mia unveiled the budget at a press briefing held at its headquarters Nagar Bhaban in presence of its chief executive officer Md Johirul Islam and secretary Md Shafiqul Islam.

The administrator said that instead of formulating an overly ambitious and large-scale budget, a practical and implementable one was prepared by reducing unnecessary expenditures where possible, without imposing additional taxes or increasing tax rates for city residents.

The DSCC administrator said that Tk 876.64 crore was allocated for development expenditure from the city authorities’ own funding, while a total of Tk 1,469.24 crore was allocated for development projects supported by the DSCC, government donors. 

Among the key sectors in the budget, Tk 365.11 crore has been allocated for road and traffic infrastructure, Tk 115.00 crore for canal development and waterlogging mitigation, Tk 57.20 crore for urban waste management, Tk 57.44 crore for mosquito control and health, Tk 5.26 crore for tree planting and environment development, and Tk 13.39 crore for welfare-oriented initiatives.

The DSCC allocated Tk 6,760.74 crore for the financial year 2024–2025, while the revised budget for that year stood at Tk 2,667.59 crore.

In the fiscal year 2023–2024, the budget was Tk 2,542.03 crore.
