At least 25 students were injured after a fire broke out during a training session in the science lab of Niyaz Mohammad High School in Brahmanbaria town on Wednesday afternoon.
The injured students received treatment at a hospital.
School headmaster Sahedul Islam said that the fire broke out during a training session being held at the lab for a science fair scheduled to be held in the town next Monday in which his school would be a participant.
The fire originated at about 12:30pm due to a short circuit, he added.
He further said that the students got injured while rushing to leave the building.
Ratan Kumar Dhali, superintendent of the 250-bed Brahmanbaria General Hospital, said that they treated 25 students of which three were admitted to the hospital.
None of them had any critical injuries, however, he said.
Two of them suffered minor burns while the others were injured as they fell down while rushing to leave the building in panic, he added.
