Two individuals died from electrocution in Habiganj and Lalmonirhat on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that an elderly man died from electrocution at Gunai village under Baniachang in Habiganj.


The deceased was Bishu Pal, 64. He came in contact with a live electric wire in an ongoing wedding ceremony at his house. He was taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-charge of Baniachang police station Kabir Hossain confirmed the incident.

The BSS also reported that a carpenter was electrocuted and three others were injured while repairing the tin roof of a house at Bhelabari village under Aditmari in Lalmonirhat.

The deceased, Jamini Kanta Roy, 40, was a resident of of Sabdal village of Sarpukur union in the same upazila.

The accident occurred when a team of carpenters was repairing old tin sheets of a house. During the work, a tin sheet accidentally came into contact with a live electric wire, resulting in Jamini Kanta Roy being electrocuted on the spot.

Three other carpenters sustained injuries while attempting to rescue him. They were given first aid locally.

Officer-in-charge of Aditmari police station Ali Akbar said that necessary legal steps were being taken in this regard.
