
The Rapid Action Battalion arrested three drug peddlers along with 200 bottles of Phensedyl in Sylhet on Tuesday night when they were preparing to send a parcel of the contraband drug through a courier service provider.
The arrested are identified as Arman, 34, son of Md Motalib of Kushiara village under the Bandar police in Narayanganj, Md Nadim Mia, 41, son of late Mozammed Hossain of Shasanerbagh village, and Md Emon, 27, son of Md Nannu Mia of Uttar Lakshankhola under the same Bandar police, RAB officials said.
RAB-9 media officer KM Shahidul Islam Sohag told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that acting on a tip-off, a team of the battalion conducted a drive at the city’s Zindabazar branch of Sundarban Courier Service Private Limited at around 9:40pm.
‘The RAB personnel at that moment arrested the three men, while they were trying to send a parcel of 200 bottles of India-made Phensedyl to another destination after they had smuggled the drug in the country,’ he said.
The RAB officer said that the arrestees had covered the Phensedyl bottles with babies’ underwear and trousers to hide the drug.
‘The arrested were handed over to the Kotwali police after a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act against them,’ he said on Wednesday afternoon.
