A teenage boy was killed in a road crash after being hit by a truck at the Bangabhaban intersection under Paltan Police Station in the capital on Saturday night.
The victim was identified as Pranto Pal, 16, son of Ujjal Pal of village Gonakarkathi of Ashashuni upazila in Satkhira district.
The crash took place at about 11:00pm when Pranto Pal was returning home on a bicycle with his father after work.
Critically injured in the accident, he was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
鈥楳y son was riding with me after we had finished selling puffed rice for the night. A truck hit our bicycle at the Bangabhaban intersection. He was thrown off and suffered a severe head injury,鈥� said Ujjal Pal, the victim鈥檚 father.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body was kept at the hospital morgue and the concerned police station had been informed.
