Gono Bishwabidyalay held a screening of documentaries to mark the 2024 July uprising at the academic building auditorium of the university at Savar in Dhaka on Thursday.

Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Md Abul Hossain was present as chief guest at the event, said a press release.


Presided over by Professor Nilufar Sultana, dean of the faculty of arts and social sciences, students of the university Nasim Khan, Rajib Hossain, Salehin, Abida and Farzana Mimi, who led the university in the July uprising, spoke at the event.

The participants of the uprising described how they accelerated the movement and the brutal torture they suffered by the previous fascist government throughout the movement.

Among others, teachers of the university Tania Ahmed, Farah Iqbal, Md Limon Hossain and Mustafa Kamal spoke at the event.

The speakers said that the July uprising was a success because of the leadership of the students.

Women students also played an important role in the uprising.
