Adviser to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Farida Akhter, has recently visited the state-of-the-art meat processing facility of Bengal Meat Processing Industries Limited at Santhia in Pabna.

She was accompanied by among others, director general of the Department of Livestock Services, Md Abu Sufian; deputy commissioner of Pabna, Mohammad Mofizul Islam; and upazila nirbahi officer of Santhia Rizu Tamanna, said a press release on Wednesday.


Bengal Meat’s head of procurement Sayadul Haq Bhuiyan welcomed the delegation.

During the visit, the adviser toured the plant’s advanced meat processing units, effluent treatment plant, water treatment system, biogas plant and other eco-friendly facilities.

She praised Bengal Meat’s internationally compliant management and sustainable practices.

‘Industrial ventures like this not only boost export opportunities but also contribute significantly to the rural economy and the development of the livestock sector,’ said Farida Akhter, expressing hope that more entrepreneurs would be inspired by Bengal Meat’s example and invest in the livestock industry.

She also participated in a discussion with senior Bengal Meat officials, where she highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting the industrial sector and shared guidance on future development opportunities.
