Chief of army staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Tuesday inaugurated the Bangladesh Army鈥檚 Tree Plantation Campaign-2025.
Marking the occasion, the army chief formally launched a simultaneous tree plantation programme across all cantonments in the country, including Dhaka Cantonment, DOHS, and the Jalshiri Housing Projects, by planting a sapling at the Nirjhar residential area of Dhaka Cantonment, said an ISPR release.
The campaign, themed Planned Afforestation, Build a Green Bangladesh, will continue until September 2025.
It will feature the planting of fruit-bearing, forest, medicinal and ornamental trees in all cantonments, training and firing ranges, as well as DOHS and Jalshiri housing areas.
The main objective of the campaign is to encourage individuals to plant trees on their own initiative to enhance the country鈥檚 forest resources and maintain ecological balance.
