At least six people were killed and eight others injured in road accidents in Tangail, Mymensingh and Sherpur districts on Monday.

¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Tangail reported that two women and a child were killed and another was injured when a Jamalpur-bound bus collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the Baghil area on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamalpur inter-district road under Dhanbari upazila in Tangail.


The identities of the deceased could not be known.

Dhanbari police officer-in-charge SM Shahidullah said that the injured was admitted to Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw at Gaffargaon upazila in Mymensingh.

The deceased are Md Iqbal Hossain, 55, a businessman from Bamunkhali Battala Bazar under Tangab union, and Wasim, 28, an auto-rickshaw driver from Panchbagh Dighirpar village under the same upazila.

Pagla police OC Md Ferdous Alam said that truck driver Sohan was arrested, and legal proceedings were under way.

Meanwhile, the BSS reported that a minor boy was killed and five others were injured in a collision between a bus and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw at Nakla upazila in Sherpur.

The deceased is Shuvrajit Dutta, 9, son of Prosenjit Dutta and Tandra Dutta of Sahapara village under Phulpur upazila.

Nakla police OC Habibur Rahman said that during the collision, Shuvrajit, who was in his mother’s lap, died on the spot.

The child’s parents, the driver, and two other auto-rickshaw passengers were critically injured in the collision.
