Bangladesh Research and Education Network, in collaboration with the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, organised a workshop on e-resources at Hotel Lakeshore Heights in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The workshop, inaugurated by UGC secretary Md Fakhrul Islam, was graced by Professor SMA Faiz, UGC chairman and BdREN trust chairperson, as chief guest, said a press release.


Librarians, treasurers, comptrollers, and finance and accounts directors from various public and private universities participated in the workshop.

Officials from the UGC and Improving Computer and Software Engineering Tertiary Education project and Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation project were also present, reflecting the importance of a unified community effort towards equitable access to academic e-resources.

The workshop focused on developing a rational and sustainable subscription model for availing e-books and e-journals in higher education institutions.

Rajshahi University professor Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq, convener of the Subscription Model Framing Committee, presented the proposed model, followed by engaging group discussions and structured feedback sessions.

Md Omar Faruque, director, ICT division, UGC, delivered the vote of thanks.聽

SMA Faiz praised BdREN鈥檚 efforts, in collaboration with UGC, in strengthening the digital resource infrastructure in higher education.

He also emphasised the importance of collaboration among stakeholders for long-term sustainability.
