
The Rajshahi Metropolitan Police celebrated its 33rd founding anniversary on Tuesday with colourful festivities.
The day began with an inaugural ceremony in front of the RMP headquarters, where Rajshahi divisional commissioner Khondker Azim Ahmed formally opened the celebration by releasing balloons, festoons, and pigeons.
A vibrant procession followed, parading through the city’s main streets, showcasing the festive spirit of the event.
Later, a discussion was held at the RMP headquarters’ conference room, with RMP commissioner Abu Sufian presiding over the session.
In his speech, Abu Sufian said that the police were working with dedication and professionalism to earn public trust, overcoming past challenges.
‘We want to serve the people while standing beside them,’ he said, urging members of the force to continue carrying out their duties with honesty, integrity, and commitment.
Among others, Bangladesh Police Academy principal Zillur Rahman, Rajshahi range police deputy inspector general Mohammad Shahjahan, Rajshahi deputy commissioner Afia Akhter, and Rajshahi district police superintendent Farzana Islam also spoke at the event.
