
Today is the 24th anniversary of death of internationally acclaimed arsenic researcher Shibtosh Roy.
He died in a road accident at Taraganj in Rangpur on July 2 in 2001, said a press release issued by the Dhaka Community Hospital Trust on Tuesday.聽
Shibtosh went to the northern region of the country to identify arsenic-affected patients for a joint research programme of Dhaka Community Hospital Trust, Commonwealth Research Organisation of Australia and Dhaka University鈥檚 geology department.
He visited villages under 460 upazilas in the country to treat arsenic patients.
Dhaka Community Hospital pays respect to his memory every year.
In addition, his family will organise religious function for the eternal peace of his departed soul.
