A teenage boy drowned in the Piyain River at Jaflong under Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet on Wednesday.
The deceased, Mahin, 16, is son of Jamil Ahmed of Shahidpara area under the Bayazid Bostami police station in Chattogram, police said.
Local residents said that Mahin went to take a bath in the Piyain River at around 1:15pm and drowned in the river.
Jamil along with his family members had come to Sylhet to spend the ongoing Eid vacation, they said.
Gowainghat police officer-in-charge Sarkar Tofail Ahmed said that local boatmen recovered his body from the river water after nearly a one-hour effort.
