
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed two cases against former Awami League lawmaker from Kishoreganj-2 constituency Nur Mohammad and his wife Ismat Ara Begum on charges of amassing illegal wealth.
ACC deputy assistant director Abu Mohammad Anwarul Masud filed the case with the commission’s integrated district office in Dhaka.
Nur Mohammad, also a former inspector general of police, is accused of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 1.16 crore while ACC investigations also revealed suspicious transactions of Tk 16.42 crore in his 17 of bank accounts, said the case statement.
In the second case, Nur Mohammad’s wife Ismat Ara Begum is charged over amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 1.14 crore, allegedly by misusing her husband’s power.
ACC also found suspicious transactions of Tk 18.95 crore in her 21 bank accounts.
