The body of Mohammad Hasan who died in Thailand after a long struggle to recover from a gunshot wound to the head sustained during the July-August mass uprising in Chattogram, was brought to the country on Saturday evening.
‘His namaz-e-janaza would be held at around 9:00pm at Central Shaheed Minar,’ said Umama Fatema in a Facebook post.Â
His body would be buried in his hometown Subarnachar area of Noakhali district on Sunday morning.Â
Hasan, a former student of Halishahar Garibe Newaz High School in the port city, passed away at 11:10pm on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pattaya in Thailand.
Hasan, 19, was critically injured in Chattogram’s Tigerpass area during the peak of the protests. Initially treated at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, he was later moved to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital on September 2, 2024, for advanced treatment.
On November 25, he was flown to Thailand for further treatment. For a brief period in April, Hasan showed signs of recovery and was moved off life support on April 10.
But his condition deteriorated again, and he was readmitted to the intensive care unit on April 25.
Liberation War Affairs adviser Farooq E Azam has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Hasan.
The Noakhali district administration has made all necessary arrangements for his burial under the supervision of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported.
