The body of a housewife was recovered from her house in Sripur Upazila of Gazipur district Wednesday morning.
The deceased is Aklima Akter, a garment worker and wife of Adnan Islam of Muktagacha Upazila in Mymensingh.
The couple used to live in a rented house in Abdar area of Sripur.
Quoting locals, police said that neighbours heard the sound of crying of the couple鈥檚 minor child from the house for a long time in the morning.
Getting no response from the house despite repeated calls, the neighbours entered the house and found the body lying inside it, police said.
Officer-in-charge of Sripur police station Mohammad Abdul Barik said that being informed, they recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The body bore marks of injuries on forehead and face. The husband fled following the suspected murder.
