Police arrested singer Mainul Hasan Noble in Demra Staff Quarter area in Dhaka on early Tuesday over the allegations of raping and torturing a woman keeping her confined for seven months.
Demra police station officer-in-charge Mahmudur Rahman said that they arrested Noble, 31, at about 2:00am on Tuesday raiding Demra Staff Quarter area, as the victim filed a case against him with the police on Monday night over rape and torture allegations.

He said that the victim filed the case with the police station under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act-2000.
According to a Dhaka Metropolitan Police press release, the victim came in contact with Noble through social media in 2018 and they used to talk over phone often.
The victim went to meet with Noble at Mohamamdpur in the last November.
Nobel offered her to show his house cum studio and took her to a flat in Demra.
After taking her to the flat, Nobel, in association with two to three other unidentified people, tortured the woman, raped her, destroyed her mobile phone in a drunken state and filmed the incident through his mobile phone.
The DMP release said that Noble kept the woman captive at the flat in Demra till May 19 threatening her to share the video on Social media.
Later, a video of the woman went viral on social media. 聽The victim鈥檚 family identified their daughter from the video and made a phone call at the National Emergency Service 999, the release said, adding that a team of Demra police reached the spot at about 9:30pm on Monday and recued the victim.
Police said that they had found Noble鈥檚 involvement in the incident analysing CCTV footages.
Nobel secured the 2nd runner up position in 2019 at Sa Re Ga Ma Pa show in India and bagged the Viewers鈥� Choice Award for his enthralling covers of fan favorite classic songs by James and Ayub Bachchu.
In 2023, Noble went to perform at a college concert in Kurigram in a drunken state and people threw bottles and shoes at him.
In the same year, he was also arrested in a fraud case as he reportedly took money from the sponsors of a programme but did not perform there. Later, he secured bail in the case from court.
