A member of the Border Guard Bangladesh was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his rented house in the Burigoalini area of Shyamnagar, near the Nildumur BGB camp, in Satkhira on Wednesday.

The deceased, Abu Saleh Ahmmad, 35, hailed from Basuria village in Gopalganj鈥檚 Tungipara, was a soldier of BGB-17 battalion in Nildumur camp.


According to BGB officials, Abu Saleh attempted to commit suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at his rented house at around 6:50am.

When he was taken to Satkhira Medical College Hospital, the doctor on duty pronounced him dead at around 9:10am.

Confirming the incident, Satkhira Sadar police station inspector Shafiqul Islam said that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard and sub-inspector Faruk Ali Mandal was appointed as the investigation officer.

He added that no reasons behind the suicide could be determined in the preliminary investigation.
