
A Dhaka additional chief metropolitan magistrate court on Monday sent to jail a female student accused in a case lodged over the brutal murder of Jahidul Islam, a student of the textile engineering department at Primeasia University in Banani, Dhaka on April 19.
The accused student, Faria Haque Tina, is a student of the English department at the University of Scholars.
Dhaka additional chief metropolitan magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the order as the police produced Tina before the court after the completion of her three-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep her behind bars till the end of the probe.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam on May 9 had placed Tina on a three-day remand in the case.
The police on May 8 arrested Tina from the Jagannathpur area under the Bhatara police station area.
Earlier on April 19, Jahidul Islam, a third-year student of the textile engineering department at Primeasia University and his friend Md Tariqul Islam were attacked with sharp weapons by a group of individuals on the road in front of the university.
Later,聽Jahidul, who sustained critical injuries was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.
On April 20, Jahidul鈥檚 cousin Humayun Kabir filed the case with Banani police station, naming eight individuals and implicating 25-30 others for their alleged involvement in the crime.
