A woman on Thursday called the national emergency service helpline 999 allegedly after stabbing his father to death after feeding him sleeping pills at his rented apartment at Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
The deceased is Abdus Sattar, 55.
A press release issued by the national emergency service helpline 999, referring to the information extracted from the woman during preliminary interrogation, said that the woman filed a rape case against her father with Singra police station in Natore in 2022 as her father had been raping her for four years.
It said that her father had been pressuring her to withdraw the case since the filing of the case.
On Wednesday evening, the woman and her father locked in an altercation over the issue and the woman fed his father sleeping pill with the dinner, it said.
The woman stabbed her father to death at about 4:00am on Thursday and then called the emergency service helpline 999 and informed that she had killed her father, inspector Anwar Sattar, media and public relations officer of the helpline, said.
Savar police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Jewel Mia said that the deceased鈥檚 son filed a murder case with his police station and they arrested the woman.
He said that they produced the woman before a Dhaka magistrate court that recorded her confessional statement and sent her to jail Thursday evening.
