
The police have arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in the abduction of a man from the Uttara area of the capital city and seized a private car from their possession.
The arrested are Md Hasanuzzaman Shayon, 36, and Md Amir Hossain, 32, said a Dhaka Metropolitan Police press release on Wednesday.
According to the press release, on April 18, the arrested, along with their accomplices, abducted Arif from in front of the BNS Centre at Uttara and left the scene in a car.
They took him to Rupganj area via Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and released him after extorting money.
A video of the incident went viral on social media.
The police, later, on the basis of intelligence information and scrutinising the video footages of the area, identified the kidnappers and the car used in the abduction.
The police, on Monday, arrested Hasanuzzaman Shayon at Khilgaon in Dhaka and seized the car from his possession.
Based on Shayon confessional statement, the police later arrested Amir Hossain at Purbo Chanpara area under Rupganj in Narayanganj.
The arrested were produced before a court.
The police are continuing efforts to arrest the remaining suspects, the release added.
