A group of students and government job seekers on Sunday blocked the Shahbagh intersection for around two hours demanding reforms to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission.
On Sunday at around 6:00pm, they marched from the base of the Anti-Terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University and then blocked the intersection. They put off the blockade at around 8:00pm.
During the blockade, the protesters chanted slogans such as 'Promise of July, Reform PSC' and 'If questions leak, why study twelve months?'
The protesters demanded the re-preparation of the written exam questions for the 46th BCS, strict measures to prevent question leaks, resolution of the recruitment backlog, and holding the written exam for the 46th BCS after the results of the 44th BCS are published.
Other demands include speeding up the evaluation of answer scripts, arranging for on-site evaluation to ensure transparency, and increasing the number of PSC members from 25 to 30 through a prompt ordinance.
Earlier, several job seekers staged a hunger strike at the base of the Raju Sculpture since April 24, demanding reforms.
Sunday was the deadline for the ultimatum they had given to the government.
