Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum held a workshop aimed at formulating a gender policy for the organisation at the UST training centre of Adabor in Dhaka on Thursday.

The goal of the workshop was to eliminate gender-based discrimination and prevent abuse among the organisation鈥檚 staff as well as children and adolescents involved in its programmes and activities, said a press release.


Hamidul Haque Majnu, chairperson of BSAF and UST, chaired the workshop.聽

The draft gender policy was presented by Afroja Parvin, executive member of BSAF and executive director of Nari Unnayan Shakti.

She elaborated on the various components and framework of the draft policy.

Participants of the workshop engaged in group discussions to assess the draft policy and provided valuable suggestions based on experiences and organisational needs.

The group discussions were coordinated and moderated by Khaiaruzzaman Kamal, vice-chairperson of BSAF and executive director of BMSF; Kazi Shamsul Alam Chowdhury, treasurer of BSAF and executive director of BUK; and Riaz Hossain, director of BSAF.

Through this workshop, a set of consolidated recommendations was collected regarding the draft gender policy. The revised and finalised policy will soon be submitted to the BSAF board for approval.
