The Economics Club of East West University organised the closing ceremony of National Economics Contest 2025 on the EWU campus in Dhaka on Thursday.

Under the patronage of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, the two-month-long event was inaugurated on February 20, said a press release on Friday.


More than a hundred teams from various colleges and universities of the country participated in the contest, which was organised on the occasion of 10 years of the EWU Economics Club.

Daffodil International University, IBA Jahangirnagar University, East West University, Dhaka Residential College, Adamjee Cantonment College, Notre Dame College and BAF Shaheen College, Dhaka won the title of winner in various categories.

Managing director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, was present as chief guest and distributed crests, certificates and prize money among the winners.

Among others, the programme chair and vice-chancellor of East West University Professor Shams Rahman, EWU economics department professor and director general of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies AK Enamul Haque, director of Electra International Shahid Ahmed Abdullah, the SAVP of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC Md Jakir Hossain and its in-charge of public relations department KM Harunur Rashid were present at the event.

Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said that a prosperous nation needs conscious, open-minded and creative citizens. ‘The youth have immense potential to become such citizens. Organising such events outside the textbooks instils a kind of competitive spirit among the students as well as develops leadership qualities in them.’
