A case was filed on Thursday over raping an 11-year-old girl, who lived in the streets near Shahbag Metro Rail Station in Dhaka.
The accused youth Rayhan, 19, was arrested in the case, police said.
The incident occurred at about 8:00pm Wednesday near Shahbag Metro Rail Station under Ramna police station.
Police rescued the victim in a bloody condition from the spot and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Ramna police station officer-in-charge Golam Faruk said that, on information, they went to the spot and rescued the victim.
The victim is now admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at DMCH, he said.
Rayhan took the child to a makeshift hut under the metro rail station at night. As the victim screamed, pedestrians came forward and detained Rayhan. Later, they informed the police, OC Golam Faruk added.
Police were trying to find family of the victim since Wednesday night but failed.
However, an 80-year-old woman came to the police station, claiming she knew the child, said the OC.
