Detective on Tuesday arrested a girl allegedly for posting a derogatory video on social media about the July mass uprising and its fighters from Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.

‘The arrested is Sheikh Mifta Faiza, 19, daughter of Mosharraf Hossain Chapol Sheikh of Dighapatia area under Natore Sadar Police Station,’ Gaziur Rahman, deputy commissioner of CTTC and additional deputy commissioner of crime and ops and media of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.

He said that a joint-team of RMP’s detective branch and Kakonhat police outpost under Godagari police station arrested Faiza from the Pakri Goalpara area on Tuesday morning.

Gaziur Rahman said that Faiza recently recorded a video standing in front of the July Memorial at the C&B intersection in Rajshahi city, using abusive language and making derogatory remarks about the July Movement and its participants.

‘In the same video, she reportedly displayed a photo of Sheikh Hasina and chanted the slogan, Joy Bangla. She later uploaded the video as a Facebook reel, which quickly went viral across social media platforms,’ he said.

Upon reviewing her Facebook and other online activities, police claimed to have found evidence of Faiza’s involvement in activities ‘conspiratorial to the state’s integrity, solidarity, public security, and sovereignty.’

‘Faiza was also active in favor of the banned organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League, sharing various posts, photos, and videos on its behalf, and maintaining multiple Telegram and WhatsApp groups to coordinate communication among members,’ Gaziur said, adding that a youth named Tanvir Ahmed Sweet lodged a complaint with the DB on Sunday.

He said that filing a case against her under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Rajpara Police Station was underway. ‘She will be produced before the court today, with a seven-day remand prayer,’ he added.
