The police arrested five people over vandalising KSTC Diagnostic Centre and Hospital at Khagrachari town on October 1 during the sectarian violence between Bengalis and hilly people following the lynching of a teacher on rape allegation.

Khagrachari sadar police station officer-in-charge Abdul Baten Mridha said that they arrested Lutfor Rahman, Nur Mohammad, Islam Hossain, Shahjahan and Md Kamrul from Shalban and its adjacent areas of the town on Sunday night.


The violence broke out between Bengalis and hilly people after a teacher of Khagrachari Government Technical School and College was beaten to death on October 1 for allegedly raping a Class VII student of Tripura community in Khagrachari town.

KSTC Diagonostice Centres and Hospital managing director Kalyani Chakma filed a case against 100-150 people with the Khagrachari police station as the victim claimed KSTC diagnostic centre was vandalised and looted.
