Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute began the Internal Research Review and Planning workshop at the Kazi Badrudduza Auditorium of the institute on Saturday.

The workshop has been organised for the purpose of evaluating all the research programmes undertaken in the past year and formulating the research programme for the next year 2024-2025 in the light of these experiences, said a press release.


The main objective of this workshop is to verify the suitability of these technologies and to take up the programme of technology innovation according to the current demand of the country. The technical sessions of the workshop will be held regularly from Sunday.

Agriculture ministry secretary Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian was chief guest while director general of the BARI Md Abdullah Yousuf Akhond presided over the workshop.

‘Scientists have to advance research activities due to the need of time. Special importance should also be given to developing varieties and technologies suitable for adverse weather conditions,’ said Emdad Ullah.

Abdullah Yousuf Akhond presented a keynote on the BARI’s research activities and achievement.

Agriculture ministry additional secretary (research) Afsari Khanam, executive chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council Nazmun Nahar Karim and director general of Department of Agricultural Extension Md Tajul Islam Patwary discussed the keynote paper at the programme.

The BARI’s director (research) Munshi Rashid Ahmad, director (support and services) Ashraf Uddin Ahmed, director (planning and evaluation) Md Abu Hena Sorwar Jahan, director (training and communication) Md Ataur Rahman, director (oilseed research) Md Nazrul Islam, director (horticulture research centre) FM Abdur Rouf, director (tuber crops research centre) Md Matiar Rahman, director (pulse research centre) Md Saleh Uddin and director (director general’s office) M M Kamrozzaman were also present at the programme.
