The National Freedom Fighters’ foundation in a statement on Friday congratulated Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus-led interim government.

On behalf of the foundation, founding chairman SM Jahangir Alam said that a new Bangladesh was created through the students’ movement, pouring fresh blood of their heart to get their rights.

Many students were martyred and injured. I wish for the forgiveness of those who were martyred. And I wish those injured a speedy recovery, he said.

The bravery shown by the army and the armed forces at this critical juncture of the country deserved praise, he said, adding, ‘They proved again like in 1971 that they are really on the side of the country and the people.’

Mentioning that Professor Mohammad Yunus is the pride of Bangladesh, and he is an acceptable figure in the whole world, SM Jahangir Alam said, ‘The current interim government under his leadership will give us a new Bangladesh. Also return the democratic system.’
