The syndicate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University has approved budget of Tk 1 thousand 54 crore 33 lakh 90 thousand for the financial year 2024-2025.

In 2023, the budget was of Tk 784 crores 20 lakh. This year the size of the budget has increased by Tk 270 crore 13 lakh 10 thousand or 34.45 per cent. The amount of deficit in the budget is Tk 264 crore 69 lakh 90 thousand.


This budget was approved on Thursday in the 92nd syndicate meeting presided over by BSMMU VC Deen Mohd Noorul Haque, said a press release.

The budget was presented in the Syndicate meeting by pro-vice-chancellor (academic) Mohammed Atiqur Rahman, acting treasurer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

The probable amount of allocation from the Department of Health, Education and Family Welfare is Tk 683 crore 74 lakh 98 thousand, from the Ministry of Education (University Grants Commission) Tk 245 crore 58 lakh 92 thousand and own income is estimated at 125 crore. money

In the budget, Tk 35 crore 60 lakhs have been allocated for research and training, including Tk 30 crore 70 lakhs for the research sector and Tk 4 crore 90 lakhs for the training sector for the financial year 2024-2025.

The allocation for the medical and recreational sector has been increased to Tk 100 crore, while Tk 123 crore 13 lakh has been allocated for the merit scholarship for students.

In the budget, Tk 18 crore 40 lakh has been allocated for maintenance, Tk 87 crore 39 lakh 60 thousand for goods services sub-sector, Tk 44 crore 58 lakh 48 thousand for parts (capital) sub-sector and Tk 22 crore for cleanliness sector.

Besides, Tk 275 crore 65 lakh 47 thousand for salary, Tk 213 crore 25 lakh 80 thousand for allowance and Tk 47 crore 34 lakh 20 thousand has been allotted for pension sanction.

Assistant director (finance and accounts) Md Saiful Islam and assistant director (finance and accounts) Jaydev Chandra Pal and assistant registrar (council) GM Abul Hasan assisted in preparation of the report.
