The Anti-Corruption Commission on Sunday filed two separate cases against former Kotalipara upazila chairman Mujibur Rahman Howlader and his wife Taslima Aktar on charges of amassing wealth worth Tk 4.89 crore beyond known sources of their income.

The commission鈥檚 assistant director Bijon Kumar Roy filed the cases with its integrated district office in Gopalganj, said ACC deputy director for public relations Akhtarul Islam.

One of the two cases was filed against Mujibur Rahman Howlader on charge of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 3.46 crore.

The ACC found that Mujibur Rahman amassed moveable and immovable wealth worth Tk 8.25 crore from 2010 to January 31, 2022.

After an investigation, the commission found Mujibur鈥檚 legal sources of income against his wealth worth Tk 4.79 crore, and the rest of his wealth as illegal.

Meanwhile, the ACC filed another case against Mujibur鈥檚 wife, Taslima Aktar, on charge of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 1.43 crore.

Taslima also concealed information about her wealth worth Tk 21.80 lakh in her statement submitted to the commission.

However, the commission did not find any legal sources of income for Taslima except her husband鈥檚 income.
