An awareness building seminar on ‘What to Do When You Notice Developmental Problems in Your Child’ was held at the premises of the Early Development Initiative at Baridhara in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Thursday.
The seminar, organised by EDI, was designed to generate awareness among parents and teachers regarding various development stages of the child in early childhood and how to recognise children with special needs, said a press release.
Dita Chapman, an internationally renowned Early Intervention and Behavior Specialist and the clinical director of EDI, was the key speaker of the seminars.
She has over 15 years of experience in the field and has been the pillar of similar initiatives in Malaysia, Thailand and Nepal.
Dita, addressing the seminar about the developmental milestones of young children, pointed out what parents, practitioners, pediatricians, and educators should pay attention to, especially when it comes to developmental ‘red flags,’ and why early intervention is so important.
She also spoke about what the strategies parents and practitioners can use when they notice red flags in a child’s development, and what early intervention programs should prioritize.
EDI is an institute that offers language-behavioral interventions to children with atypical development, utilizing the latest science, the release said.
