Bangladesh Medical University held a workshop titled Enhancing Service Quality, Patient Care and Hospital Etiquette at the BMU in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Twenty-eight senior staff nurses of the university participated in the workshop organised by the human resource management department of the BMU, said a press release.

BMU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam was present as chief guest at the workshop.

He said that those involved in patient care, especially nurses, must win the hearts of patients.

‘The contribution of nurses in proper and improved health management is very important,’ he said, adding that no negative reactions could be shown from the nursing desk.

‘The main responsibility of nurses is to remove patient dissatisfaction. A qualified and quality nurse is a world-wide asset. The entire world is open to them, regardless of race, religion or colour,’ he added.

‘The dreams of Bangladeshi nurses need to be expanded a lot. If they want, they can even do a PhD. We must move forward with that goal,’ the VC mentioned.

Earlier, training was provided to 120 support staff working in the outpatient department of the BMU.

Director of the Human Resources Management Department, Md Masud Rana, delivered the welcome speech at the workshop.

The training workshop was jointly conducted by North South University Professor Deepak Kumar Mitra; BMU director, hospitals, Brigadier General Irteka Rahman; Professor Mohammad Nasimul Islam and associate professor Harun Or Rashid.
