The department of media and mass communication of the American International University鈥揃angladesh held a two-day 10th Communication and Journalism Educators Network Conference 2025 concluded at the AIUB in Dhaka on Saturday.

The conference, organised in collaboration with the DW Akademie, brought together media educators, communication scholars, journalists and students from various universities across the country, said a press release.


With the theme Media Transformed: Bangladesh at a Crossroads, the conference aimed to foster research, collaboration and dialogue in advancing journalism and communication education in Bangladesh.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Professor SMA Faiz, chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, as chief guest.

The special guests included Ramon Guillermo R Tuazon, secretary-general of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre; Ishtiaque Abedin, founder and board of trustees member AIUB; Professor Saiful Islam, vice-chancellor, AIUB; and Professor Jude William Genilo, pro-vice-chancellor, ULAB, and chairman, CJEN Bangladesh.

The inaugural address was delivered by Carmen Z Lamagna, member, board of trustees, and former vice-chancellor of AIUB.

The two-day conference featured keynote presentations, panel discussions and academic paper sessions.

The organisers expressed their hope that this initiative by AIUB鈥檚 department of media and mass communication would contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of communication and journalism education in Bangladesh.
