After facing criticism, the Dhaka University administration has removed incorrect information from its website and uploaded the corrected results of the student union elections.

In a press release issued on Sunday night, the university administration admitted that minor calculation errors had occurred while compiling the overall results of the Dhaka University Central Student Union and hall union elections.

It attributed the errors to human oversight in lengthy administrative procedures, expressing regret for the inadvertent mistakes.

The press release stated that the corrections had been made based on the already published centre-wise results and that the revisions did not cause any change in the list of elected candidates.

In the revised results, vice-president candidate Riaz Uddin Ahmed鈥檚 six votes had earlier been shown as eight ; candidate for literature and cultural secretary Md Lanzu Khan鈥檚 1,571 votes earlier shown as 1,531; iInternational affairs secretary candidate Mohammad Sakib鈥檚 3,962 votes were earlier shown as 3,922.

Assistant general secretary candidate Ashrefa Khatun鈥檚 890 votes were shown as 900; social service secretary candidate Tawhidul Islam鈥檚 2,044 votes were shown as 2,045; and science and technology secretary candidate Fatin Ishraq鈥檚 actual 2,011 votes were shown as 2,021.

Several other corrections were also made at the election results.

The DUCSU elections, marked by allegations of irregularities, including vote rigging and violations of the electoral code of conduct, were held on September 9 amid a festive mood after a six-year gap.

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed panel won 23 among 28 posts, including the posts of vice-president, general secretary, and assistant general secretary.
