
Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University held the orientation ceremony for freshers of the 2024–25 academic year at the university’s Teachers-Students Centre Complex in Dhaka on Monday.
Twenty-three socio-cultural organisations set up colourful stalls in the front yard of the TSC Complex to showcase their activities and members of the organisations welcomed the new students by answering various questions and offering flowers, said a press release.Â
SAU vice-chancellor Professor Md Abdul Latif attended the event as chief guest.
He said, ‘Women started agriculture in ancient times, so I sincerely congratulate the new girls for choosing our university. Our teachers are dedicated to the students all the time. They teach very efficiently.’
Mentioning that there is no bullying at the SAU, the VC said, ‘If anyone indulges in such undesirable activities, we will take strict action against them.’
Treasurer Professor Muhammad Abul Bashar and pro-VC Professor Md Belal Hossain were present as special guests.
The event was also addressed by the convener of the provost council Professor Firoz Mahmud, proctor Professor Md Arfan Ali, dean of the faculty of agriculture Professor AMM Shamsuzzaman, dean of the faculty of agribusiness management Professor Md Zakir Hossain, dean of the faculty of animal science and veterinary medicine Professor Md Jahangir Alam and dean of the faculty of fisheries, aquaculture and marine science, Professor Kazi Ahsan Habib.
