
Vice-chancellor of Pirojpur Science and Technology University Professor Md Shahidul Islam at a programme on Tuesday urged the people of the country to build a corruption-free, discrimination-free, happy, prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh.
‘We do not want to fight again. We want to leave a beautiful and safe country for the new generation,’ he said while addressing at a discussion to mark the anniversary of the July uprising at the PSTU, said a press release.
Presided over by dean of the faculty of science of the university, Akhtar Hossain, the VC said, ‘We will all unite and form a corruption-free, discrimination-free, happy, prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh. Let this be the pledge of July.’
On the occasion of the day, a cultural programme was also organised at the university.
Syndicate member of the university Principal Alamgir Hossain, Pirojpur additional superintendent of police Abdul Awal, chairman of all departments of the university and Pirojpur correspondent of Daily Observer Ziaul Ahsan also spoke at the discussion meeting.
In addition, Rifat Hossain of the Statistics Department, Meem Akhter of the Psychology Department, Maruf Hossain of the CSE Department and Shadab Hasin of the Mathematics Department spoke among the students.
The speakers remembered the victims and injured in the July uprising with deep respect.
Earlier, the programme began with the recitations from the Qur’an and the Bhagabat Gita,
The university students revived the memories of the July uprising through various performances, including staging plays, dances, songs, and recitations.
