
The UIU MARINER, Bangladesh鈥檚 first-ever university team from United International University, has recently secured 5th place globally in the MATE ROV World Championship 2025鈥檚 PIONEER Class in the United States.
The team also secured 1st place in Asia and was named Technical Documentation Champion held at the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary in Alpena, Michigan, organised by the US Marine Technology Society, said a press release on Wednesday.
The Advanced Underwater Robotics and Automation crew of United International University showcased their self-built ROV on the international stage, where each team was evaluated across eight criteria such as product demonstration, engineering presentation, technical documentation, marketing display, collaborative mission, company specification, corporate responsibility and safety.
UIU MARINER earned the title of Technical Documentation Champion for their outstanding submission.
In addition to this achievement, the team won the Best Technical Documentation Team Award, scoring 81 out of 100 in the competition.
The team was supervised by Professor Emeritus M Rezwan Khan, department of EEE; Professor AKM Muzahidul Islam, department of CSE, and two lecturers of CSE department Fahim Hafiz and Saifur Rahman.
Led by Anika Tabassum Orchi and Farhan Zaman from the department of CSE, a team of 10 members from the UIU participated in the competition.
