The Jagannath University Film Society is set to host a three-day film festival June 23.
The announcement was made at a press conference at the office of the film society office on the JnU campus in Dhaka on Monday.
The official poster of the festival was also unveiled at the press conference.
Hasibuzzaman Rik, general secretary of the Jagannath University Film Society, stated in a written speech that the festival would take place in three venues, including on the university campus, from June 23 to 25.
The festival has already received over 50 entries from students and independent filmmakers, focusing primarily on short films.
The registration process is still ongoing. Following a thorough selection by the panel of judges, 35 films will be screened in the festival.
Professor Nister Jahan Kabir, chairperson of the department of film and television at the JnU, expressed his admiration for the initiative, stating, ‘I believe such festivals should not be limited to public universities alone but should be held in various institutions nationwide.’
The film society president Adan Mahmud Saikat, among others, was also present at the press conference.
