
Midland Bank PLC, in collaboration with North South University’s Career and Placement Centre, organised a seminar on financial literacy on Tuesday at NSU premises, said a press release.
NSU vice-chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury chaired the seminar, while treasurer and pro vice-chancellor (IC) Abdur Rob Khan delivered a welcome address.
Bangladesh Bank executive director Rup Ratan Pine attended the event as chief guest.
Midland Bank managing director and chief executive officer Md Ahsan-uz Zaman was present as a special guest.
The session was moderated by Md Taufiqul Islam, director of CPC, and was attended by distinguished faculty members and large number of NSU students.
Md Rashed Akter, retail distribution division head of financial literacy wing and chief bancassurance officer, and Mohammad Faruq Ur Rahman, manager, financial literacy wing — retail distribution division, along with other officials from both organisations were also present in the session.
The seminar focused on enhancing awareness of financial literacy among students and future professionals, making them aware about financial inclusiveness, sustainable economic development, access to finance and equipping them with essential knowledge to make informed financial decisions.
This initiative reflects Midland Bank’s continued commitment to empowering the younger generation through financial education and inclusion.
The bank also set up a booth at NSU campus on September 22-24 to create awareness about banking products and services among the students and teachers of the university.
