
Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident on Sylhet-Moulvibazar road at Fenchuganj upazila in Sylhet on Monday afternoon.
The deceased are identified as Sufian Islam Nahid, 20, son of Mashuk Miah of Char Mohammadpur village under Moglabazar police station, and his relative Sayem Ahmed, 14, son of Shawkat Ali of Mohammadpur village under Dakshin Surma police station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, police said.
Fenchuganj police station officer-in-charge Moniruzzaman Khan confirmed the accident and consequent casualties to ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.
Quoting the local residents, he said that a Sylhet-bound microbus crushed into a Moulvibazar-bound motorcycle on Sylhet-Moulvibazar road near Ilashpur village of the Fenchuganj upazila at around 4-45pm, leaving the motorcycle rider Nahid and his pillion Sayem dead on the spot.
‘A team of the police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the news and sent the victims’ bodies to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for post-mortem,’ he said in the evening.
He said that the microbus was seized from the spot but its driver fled the scene instantly after the incident.
