Thailand's Ariyaphol Leekul claimed the boys' singles title, while India's Sanmitha Harini Lokesh won the girls' singles event as the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior J-30 Dhaka phase concluded at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna on Friday.

Leekul defeated top-seeded Chuan Ding of China by 6-4, 6-3 sets in the final. Leekul and Ding reached the final following their semi-final wins over Bangladesh’s Zarif Abrar and India's Tejas Ravi, respectively.


Sanmitha lifted the girls’ singles title with a 6-4, 6-2 set win over Thailand's Tarita Hongsyok in the final.

Sanmitha reached the final by beating Maldives' Aaraa Aasaal Azim in the semi-finals while Tarita defeated South Korea's Hyeju Kwon in the other semi.

Earlier on Thursday, India’s pair of Shounak and Amrit Dhankar clinched the boys' doubles title by defeating Chinese duo Chuan Ding Tennis and Keyi Li Tennis by 2-0 sets in the final.

Aaraa of Maldives and Sanmitha of India pair clinched the girls' doubles crown after beating Chinese pair of Tian Ran and Zikan in tie-breaker after the final was tied on 1-1 (10-4) sets.

A total of 75 young players from 12 countries took part in the tournament, which was officiated by Mashfia Afrin – an ITF White Badge (Level-2) referee from Bangladesh.

Apart from Bangladesh, players from Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, UK, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Maldives, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States took part in the competition.

Bangladesh Tennis Federation president Abdul Hai Sarker distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest during the closing ceremony.

The BTF vice-president Ashrafuzzaman Khan Puton, general secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Curren, treasurer MA Jinnah, ad-hoc committee member Begum Hosne Ara Rina, and the tournament director Shafiqul Islam Sarker Sohel were also present on the occasion.

The week-long tournament was sponsored by the Suzuki Motorbikes, Bank Asia, and Dana Petroleum Ltd.
