
Bangladesh’s promising player Zarif Abrar failed to secure a place in the final of the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior J-30 Dhaka after losing to Thailand’s Ariyaphol Leekul in the boys’ singles semi-final at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna on Thursday.
The 18-year-old, who earned a comeback 7-5, 6-2, 7-5 in a nearly three-hour-long quarter-final against Shounak Chatterjee on Wednesday, was defeated 1-6, 4-6 in the semi-final.
However, the finals of the boys' and girls' doubles events were played on Thursday.
In the boys' doubles final, India’s pair of Shounak and Amrit Dhankar won the title after defeating Chinese duo Chuan Ding Tennis and Keyi Li Tennis in straight sets 2-0.
Aaraa Aasaal Azim of Maldives paired with Sanmitha Harini of India to claim the girls' doubles crown, beating Chinese pair Tian Ran and Zikan in a tie-breaker 10-4 after the match was tied at 1-1.
