Bangladesh鈥檚 promising star Zarif Abrar advanced into the semi-finals of the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior J-30 Dhaka after a 2-1 set victory over the second-seeded player of the tournament, India's Shounak Chatterjee, in the boy鈥檚 singles quarter-final at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna on Wednesday.

Zarif earned a comeback win in a nearly three-hour-long match, as he lost the first set by 7-5 points before winning the next two sets by 6-2 and 7-5.

The 18-year-old player, who started the tournament with the goal of becoming champion, is now just two wins away from achieving his target.

'Today, luck was on my side. I was not supposed to win this match. At one point, I was trailing 3-5. The match turned due to just one gap. The moment just shifted,' Zarif expressed his reaction after the match.

'I was a bit off today. Alhamdulillah, I managed to cover it. The Indian opponent had a lot of power. It was difficult for me to cover that,' he added.

Zarif confidently reiterated winning the title by saying, 鈥業nshallah, I will play a good match in the semi-finals. I am very confident that I can be the champion of the tournament.'
