Boeing shares tumbled 5.0 percent in early trading on Thursday after a London-bound Boeing 787 operated by Air India crashed in Ahmedabad, likely killing all 242 people on board.

An AFP journalist saw people recovering bodies and firefighters trying to douse the smouldering wreckage after the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner hit buildings during lunchtime.

Boeing said it was in contact with Air India and stands ready to support them. The aviation giant has been attempting to rebound from a series of setbacks following a labor strike last year in the United States and fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019 of the 737 MAX.
