The central committee of Communist Party of Bangladesh on Wednesday elected Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan as president and Abdullah Kafee Ratan general secretary of the party.
A newly elected 43-strong central committee of the party on the day elected the party鈥檚 president and general secretary along with six presidium members from among them at a meeting at the party central office at Purana Paltan.
The newly elected six presidium members are former party president Mujahidul Islam Selim, Rafiquzzaman Layek, SA Rashid, Ragib Ahsan Munna, Joly Talukder and Aminul Farid.
The party鈥檚 13th party congress was organised in Dhaka city with its inauguration held at the Engineers Institution of Bangladesh on Friday.
The 43-strong central committee was elected at the council session of the congress held at the Bangladesh Medical Association auditorium on Topkhana Road on Monday.
