A daylong solo exhibition showcasing photographs by Russian photojournalist Andrei Stenin was held at the Russian House in Dhaka to observe the International Day of Journalists’ Solidarity.

The exhibition displayed 16 photographs depicting anti-government protests in the Donetsk region of Ukraine in 2013-14 and destruction of residences in the country’s Donbas region in 2014.

Two documentary films titled ‘Beslan 2004-2024’ and ‘Russophobia: A History of Hatred‘ were screened at the event.

Acting director of the Russian House in Dhaka, George Latsuzbaya, said that the Western media never highlight the plight of the people of the Donbas region suffering due to attacks by Ukraine.

The exhibition also featured a commemorative event, ‘Perished for Truth, dedicated to journalists who lost their lives in the Donbas region since 2014.

‘They even killed a huge number of journalists who exposed the crimes of the Ukrainian regime,’ George Latsuzbaya said, adding that the Russian government has announced 200 scholarships for Bangladeshi students in the 2026-27 academic year.
