Bangladesh A team’s tour of Pakistan has been rescheduled following the turmoil the country went through in recent days which led to the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister following protests all over the country, which had initially begun as a quota reform movement.
The team for the two-match four-day series, led by Anamul Haque, was supposed to leave the country on August 6, which was then cancelled due to the existing situation.
On Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board revealed the new itinerary for the series, with the four-day team’s travel date set for August 10.
That means the first match will begin on August 13 instead of August 10, while the second one will begin on August 20 instead of August 17.
The three one-day matches – originally scheduled for August 23, 25, and 27 – have been rescheduled to August 26, 28, and 30.
The one-day team will be led by Towhid Hridoy. All five matches of the series will be played in Islamabad.
Several national team players have been included in the first four-day match such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Zakir Hasan, and Nayeem Hasan as part of the preparation for the national team’s two-Test series in Pakistan later this month.
The team returned to training on Wednesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, with players and management offering prayers and respect for the lives lost in the past few weeks during the student-led mass movement before the start of the practice session.
