A man was hacked to death and his father critically injured in an attack allegedly stemming from previous enmity at Dhaka Uddyan in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on Monday night.

The deceased, identified only as Babu, was about 22–23 years old. His father, Abu Kashem, is undergoing treatment at a city hospital, police said.

Ibne Mizan, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Tejgaon Division, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the attack took place around 8:30pm in front of the victims’ shop in Dhaka Uddyan’s D Block.

He said preliminary findings suggest that Babu and his father had a money-related dispute with several individuals in the area.

‘We primarily believe the attack was carried out over that dispute. Police are at the scene, and an investigation is underway. We are trying to identify the culprits,’ he added.

According to police, a group of men armed with sharp weapons attacked the father-son duo, leaving both seriously injured. They were taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared Babu dead.
