A trader was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Khalishpur area of Khulna city Thursday morning.
The deceased is Sabuj Khan, 55, a scrap trader from the Baitul Falah area.
Mir Atahar Ali, officer-in-charge of Khalishpur police station said聽 that when Sabuj Khan was going to his shop, 6鈥�7 assailants attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured at around 11:30am聽 in Khalishpur Housing Bazar area.
Locals rushed him Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
The victim鈥檚 son-in-law Mohammad Babu claimed that Sabuj was murdered over previous enmity.
He said that Sabuj鈥檚 father-in-law, along with several local residents, had held a press conference on October 5 against a local group allegedly involved in drug dealing.
OC Mir Atahar Ali said that police visited the spot and arrested a woman named Najma on suspicion of involvement in the murder.
鈥楢 drive is underway to arrest the others involved,鈥� he added.
